Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions can be treated virtually?
Our virtual consultations can address many common conditions including cold & flu symptoms, allergies, skin conditions, mental health concerns, and more. Some conditions require an in-person assessment, and your provider will tell you if that applies to you.
Do I need to be in Ontario?
Yes. Appointments are available to patients who are physically located in Ontario, Canada at the time of the appointment.
Will I receive a prescription?
Not automatically. Prescriptions are issued at the sole clinical discretion of your provider, when clinically appropriate, and are sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. ONRx does not dispense, sell, or deliver medication, and narcotics and controlled substances are never prescribed through virtual consultations.
Is my visit covered by OHIP?
Whether a visit is OHIP-insured is determined by the physician under Ministry of Health rules. Where a visit is insured, your physician bills OHIP directly and you are charged nothing. A valid Ontario health card is required for OHIP-covered appointments.
What does a consultation cost?
Fees for appointments that are not covered by OHIP are listed in Canadian dollars on our Pricing page. Payment is taken at the time of booking. Paid appointments cancelled at least 48 hours before the start time are fully refundable; our Refund & Cancellation Policy sets out the full rules.
Is my health information private?
Your personal health information is handled in accordance with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Consultations run over an encrypted connection, and access is limited to the providers involved in your care. Our Privacy Policy sets out what we collect and why.
