Will I definitely receive a note?
No. A note is issued only where the doctor determines, after assessing you, that documentation is clinically appropriate. Your fee covers the medical assessment itself, not a guaranteed document.
How soon can I be seen?
Availability varies by day and by provider. You will see the open appointment times when you book, and can choose the one that suits you. Where the doctor issues documentation, it is provided digitally following your consultation.
Will my employer or school accept the note?
Documentation is issued by physicians registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Employers, schools, and other organizations set their own requirements and decide independently whether to accept any note, so acceptance cannot be guaranteed. Check what your organization requires before booking.
What information does a note contain?
The doctor includes the clinical information they consider appropriate, balanced against your privacy — typically confirming that an assessment took place and any recommended period away from work or school. Detailed diagnostic information is not routinely disclosed.
Can the note follow my organization’s specific format?
You can share your organization’s requirements during your appointment and the doctor will accommodate them where clinically and professionally appropriate. A physician cannot attest to anything they have not assessed, or complete documentation that would be inaccurate.
What to expect
A medical note is not guaranteed. Your doctor will assess your situation and decide whether documentation is clinically appropriate. Physicians cannot certify a condition they have not assessed.
Your fee covers the medical assessment — the consultation with a licensed physician — whether or not a note is issued as a result.
Employers, schools, and other organizations set their own documentation requirements and decide independently whether to accept a note. ONRx cannot guarantee that any third party will accept documentation.
